This class is an embodiment of "Yin" energetics. We will move at a slow pace, focus on restoration, and the poses will be held longer. Yin Yoga is a mix of yoga, mindfulness, and Chinese medicine. It is a pleasant, though sometimes painful type of yoga that everyone can do. The exercises are relatively simple and we stay in them for a period of some length. Yin Yoga focuses on the so-called yin-parts of the body (the innermost parts), such as the skeleton, connective tissue, ligaments, joints, and internal organs. All Yin Yoga exercises are performed sitting or lying down, and increase the flexibility of the hips, the legs, and the spine. Yin Yoga a is a perfect accessory to Bikram Yoga and Vinyasa, which are more yang orientated.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Bring a mat, towel and water. The room is gently warmed and you may perspire as you warm up your body from the inside out.
